A Parent's Guide to Choosing a Safe PG for Your Child in Bhubaneswar

For many parents, the hardest part of sending a child to college is not knowing where they'll live or who will look after them. A good PG takes a lot of that worry away. Here is what to check before you decide.
Visit in person, or ask for a detailed video tour
Photos online don't show everything. Visit the room your child will actually stay in, and see the bathrooms, kitchen and common areas.
Questions to ask the PG
- Is the PG for boys only, girls only, or mixed?
- Is there CCTV, and is someone on site 24/7?
- How are residents verified before they move in?
- Who do we call in an emergency, day or night?
- What exactly is included in the rent?
- What are the deposit and notice period, and will we get receipts?
- How is food prepared, and can we see the menu?
Signs of a well-run PG
- Clean bathrooms and common areas, not just a clean room
- A caretaker or manager who answers questions clearly
- Receipts for every payment
- A simple way to raise and track complaints
- Recent, genuine Google reviews
Stay in touch, without hovering
Agree on a simple routine with your child, like a call every few days. Save the PG manager's number too. Most issues are small and get fixed quickly when you know who to call.
