Easy day trips from Bhubaneswar: Puri, Konark, Dhauli and Chilika

Using Bhubaneswar as a base for Odisha’s famous coast and heritage sites.

Dhauli Shanti Stupa near Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar is a great base. Many of Odisha’s best known places are reachable in a day, so you can leave your bags in one comfortable home.

Dhauli Shanti Stupa (about 30 minutes)

A peaceful hilltop stupa that is easy to add to a half day. Good sunset views.

Puri (about 1.5 hours)

Home to the Jagannath Temple and the beach. Start early and plan for crowds on weekends and festival days.

Konark (about 1.5 to 2 hours)

The Sun Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many people combine Puri and Konark in a single long day via the Marine Drive road.

Chilika Lake (about 2 hours)

Boat rides and bird watching are the main draws. Season and water levels affect what you will see, so check ahead.
